Jharkhand CM presides over Ranchi meeting on Naxal menace
Ranchi, Dec.4 (ANI): A high-level meeting took place in Ranchi on Monday (4 December) which was conducted by Vinay Sinha, Additional Secretary of Ministry of Home Affairs in the wake of recent landmine blast in Bokaro district killing 13 STF jawans.
The meeting was attended by IG (operations), CRPF and IG (Naxalite cell) MHA. The team conducted a review meeting with the Chief Minister Madhu Koda, Home Secretary J B Tubid, DGP J B Mahapatra and some other senior officials in the Secretariat.
After the conclusion of the meeting, J B Mahapatra, DGP, Jharkhand, met media persons and briefed them about the meeting and various suggestions made during the meeting.
"We have suggested need for metal detectors, deep search metal detector to search for the landmines and training facilities for the newly recruited staff as my men are not fully trained," he said.
"To raise a new battalion, we do not have experienced officers. We need officers from BSF CRP so that we can raise battalion for India reserve pattern for next three years," added J B Mahapatra.
Ranchi has 12 naxal affected tribal dominated districts of the State . There is a lack of basic amenities, including drinking water, electricity and food, to the people resulting in widespread poverty and starvation. People even migrated to other States in search of work.
Naxal-affected areas include sensitive areas of Palamau, Hazaribagh, Chatra, Gaya, Jehanabad and Rohtas. (ANI)
