TDP worker, 2 Maoists held; explosive dump unearthed
Nizamabad, Oct. 8 (PTI): Police have unearthed a naxal explosive dump and arrested two Maoists and a Telugu Desam Party (TDP) local worker in this connection. The explosives seized at Kaligote forest area were meant to blow up a government office at Jakranpally and a bank at Padkal, Nizamabad DIG Anjani Kumar told reporters here today.
The arrested TDP member Neeradi Subender was a Mandal Parishad Territorial Constituency (MPTC) elected representative while the Maoists have been identified as Sargam Ashok and Gajella Gangadhar.
From the dump, police recovered explosives filled in six plastic and two steel buckets and eight detonators, he said adding two motorcycles were also seized.
During interrogation, the arrested allegedly revealed that the explosives were handed over to them by Sirnepally Maoist Dalam Commander Satish for blowing up the buildings to disrupt the Gram Panchayat elections, held two months ago.
Subender provided logistic support for transporting the explosives, Kumar said adding the TDP worker was also involved in another case wherein he has provided his car for bringing explosives.
